While Advent this year is going to look and feel a little different,
we encourage you to join us for the many activities we are offering both virtually and in-person.

Our theme each week will focus on the following:

Stay Alert to Hope

Preparing the Way for Love

Finding  Peace

Many people in the SP area struggle to make ends meet and purchase Christmas gifts for their children.  Help a family by making a child’s Christmas wish come true by selecting a gift tag from our Spirit of Giving Tree, spending between $40-$50 a gift.   Bring the unwrapped gift with the tag attached back by Dec 5th. If you are not attending church in person yet, but would like a tag, please contact the church office. Thank you!

Around 260 years after the birth of Jesus, a boy named Nicholas was born in Patara, Turkey.  His parents had heard about Jesus Christ and raised Nicholas as a Christian.  Nicholas grew to be a wealthy man and decided to give his wealth to those in need.  He did this at night by dropping coins through an open window in the home of the needy.  Later, the early Christian Church declared him a Saint.

In the spirit of gift giving to those who need a little extra help this Christmas, the SPUMC St. Nicholas Fund is used to assist members and friends of our congregation during the Christmas season and throughout the year at the discretion of Pastor Jenny and the staff.

Please watch the Thursday church email or go to the Advent page on the church website ( for information about making your gift.  Thank You!

Join us for our four-week Advent Study in-person or online on Sundays, November 28, December 5, 12, and 19 at 9:45 am or on Wednesdays, December 1, 8, 15 and 22 at noon.  The Sunday class will meet in the chapel and the Wednesday class in the library.  We will use the book, The Heart that Grew Three Sizes:  Finding Faith in the Story of the Grinch, by Matt Rawle.  We all long for relationships that are steady and stable and the story of the Grinch can connect with us in our own relationships.  We will explore the faith themes of this classic Christmas story and see the way relationships come together at the end of the story when the Grinch and the Who’s from Whoville come together at the table for a celebration.

Please contact the church office ( to register for the Wednesday and Sunday Advent study.

Starting anytime after 2pm on Sunday, December 5th you will be able to access our 2021 Children’s Christmas Program “The True Story of the 12 Days of Christmas.”

We will also be hosting a watch party onsite that day at 2pm. After watching the program together we will have a few different activities for families to engage in together as we prepare for Christmas together.

If you have any questions please contact Director of Christian Education Amanda Hinthorn.
