"Preparing with Gratitude"
While Advent this year is going to look and feel a little different,
we encourage you to join us for the many activities we are offering both virtually and in-person.
Our theme each week will focus on the following:
Preparing with Gratitude for Hope
Preparing with Gratitude for Love
Preparing with Gratitude for Peace
Preparing with Gratitude for Joy
We are once again partnering with Sunshine Place to provide gifts to children in the Sun Prairie community that would otherwise go without. Please select one or several children on the signup below to sponsor. You do not need to purchase all of the items listed, these are ideas for you.
You may drop off your unwrapped gifts on Saturday, Dec. 5th from 10:00-12:00 pm or Monday, Dec. 7th from 10:00-1:00 pm. Please have your gifts marked with the Family # and Child #.
Around 260 years after the birth of Jesus, a boy named Nicholas was born in Patara, Turkey. His parents had heard about Jesus Christ and raised Nicholas as a Christian. Nicholas grew to be a wealthy man and decided to give his wealth to those in need. He did this at night by dropping coins through an open window in the home of the needy. Later, the early Christian Church declared him a Saint.
In the spirit of gift giving to those who need a little extra help this Christmas, the SPUMC St. Nicholas Fund is used to assist members and friends of our congregation during the Christmas season and throughout the year at the discretion of Pastor Jenny and the staff.
Please watch the Thursday church email or go to the Advent page on the church website (sunprairieumc.org) for information about making your gift. Thank You!

For many of us, Christmas is a difficult time of year. Perhaps this year has been made more difficult if a loved one has died, you are having challenging family relationships, struggling with addictions, physical or mental illness, stress, or feeling deeply the pain of what is happening in our world. This service is a quiet, meditative worship service that will offer the opportunity to remember, share your hurting places with God and move toward healing so that your heart might be prepared for the birth of Christ. This service will take place online on December 21st at 7pm. The service will include Scripture readings, lighting of candles, music and Holy Communion.
If you are planning on worshipping with us online for Christmas Eve, we invite you to pick up a candle for each person to light during Silent Night. Candles can be picked up at our Live Nativity on Dec. 18 from 6:30-8:00 or on December 23 from 4-5:30 pm in the church parking lot.
Join us online for Christmas Eve worship any time after 3 pm on December 24th by going to our church website at sunprairieumc.org. Our Christmas Eve worship will include beautiful Christmas music, hearing the Christmas story from Scripture read and proclaimed, sharing in the Sacrament of Holy Communion and the lighting of our candles during the singing of Silent Night at the end of the service. You will want to have bread or crackers; and juice or water read for sharing Communion. Share this online opportunity to worship on Christmas Eve with your family and friends.
Children’s Christmas Eve Service
Children and their families can join us for a worship service designed just for them. We will share in the singing of Christmas carols, hear the story of the birth of Jesus through cartoon, light our Advent wreaths together in our homes, and share in the lighting of our Christmas Eve candles. Join us for this very special worship service.
