Children and Family Ministries
- Children’s Ministry encompasses ages birth to 5th grade.
- Family Ministry focuses on those events and activities that are great for the whole family together.
Children's Ministry
Children’s ministry is diverse and active! Listed below are the many ways your child can be involved in the life of the SPUMC community:
Church School runs September through May every Sunday, starting at 9:45 a.m.
Children must register for Church School so that teachers can be prepared for the right amount of students and to follow Safe Sanctuary guidelines.
Each summer our 5th graders participate in a mission day that is designed to help our local community.
If you have any questions please email Associate Pastor of Faith Formation Claire Douglass at cdougalss@sunprairieumc.org
Children’s Church is held on Sunday mornings during our 8:30 a.m. worship services September through May. In Children’s Church, kids aged 3 years to 5th grade meet in our new classroom addition following the children’s sermon. We read a story, do a craft, play games and learn about God’s love.
Please note: We do not offer children’s church the first Sunday of the month. This weekend is set aside for families to worship together and to participate in the sacrament of Holy Communion as a family.
At the end of each summer, children entering 4K-5th grade can attend our summer Vacation Bible School. Please watch our website for more information in the late spring/early summer.
Summer Children’s Church
Summer Children’s Church is offered during both summer weekend worship services for children age 3 to 1st grade. We DO NOT have children’s church the first weekend of the month so that families can worship together and have communion.
5th Grade Summer Mission Experience
Students who are completing 5th grade will be invited to participate in a day long mission experience each summer. The experience is designed to lay a basic foundation for mission including theology, faith formation, service and fundraising.
Nursery
Sometimes adults need to worship without their littlest ones. We understand.
Our nursery is open 10 minutes before each of our worship services, with care offered for children from birth to age two. Families sign children in and leave their cell phone number (we contact parents and family members if we need them to return). Our nursery staff is CPR, First Aid and Safe Sanctuaries trained. If you will be leaving your child(ren) in the nursery during worship we ask that you complete the Worship Nursery Registration. These are kept on file in our nursery area.
