Small Group Ministry
Join us for our Advent study via Zoom on Wednesdays, December 2, 9 & 16 at noon; or on Sundays, November 29, December 6, 13 & 20 at 10:30 am. Our study will follow the book Incarnation: Rediscovering the Significance of Christmas, by Adam Hamilton. This study examines the names of Christ used by the gospel writers and explores the historical significance of Jesus’ birth and the difference Christ makes in our lives. Click here or contact the church office (email@example.com) to sign up and get information on receiving the study book by November 20th.
The title of the class is “The Holy Land Revealed,” one of the many classes offered on the Great Courses website. Each week, we’ll begin the class with a half hour video lecture, followed by a time for us to discuss what we learned. The video lectures we’ll be watching are given by Dr. Jodi Magness, a distinguished archaeologist and a professor at the University of North Carolina. Over the course of 36 weeks, Dr. Magness will take us through archeological finds in Holy Lands that help shed light on what we find in the Bible.
The class will held Wednesdays beginning on Oct 7th at 10:00 am and last about an hour or so. If there are some weeks that someone isn’t able to join the class, it’s not a problem. Attendance is never taken, and each lecture is a standalone class.

Our knit and crochet group creates prayer shawls, baptismal shawls, confirmation shawls, caps and lap robes. They provide a significant ministry of comfort and support. This year at our Prayer Shawl dedication we had 40 prayer shawls, knit caps, and baptismal shawls blessed. If you, or someone you know, would like a prayer shawl please have them contact Lisa Wink and we will make sure they receive one.
Would you like to be a part of the creation of these garments? We meet every 2nd and 4th Monday via Zoom from 10:00 to 11:00 am. If you would like more information or would like to join the group please email Lisa Wink at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Lent Study this year focused on our theme of Hope Around the Table. The groups studied the book titled Come & Eat, A Celebration of Love and Grace Around the Everyday Table by Bri McKoy.
In today’s busy and often superficial world, we all crave something deeper and truer. Maybe it’s relationships that go beyond the surface or gatherings that allow for joy and pain. Bri McKoy tells us this is within reach! All we need is a table, open hearts and a simple invitation: come and eat.
A copy of the book is available in the church library.
The Men’s Group meets Saturday mornings at 8 a.m in the church conference room. All men are welcome to join at any time. This is a great opportunity to meet other christian men from our church, discuss our faith and life issues and challenges.

The group also meets socially throughout the year. New members are welcome at any time.
The current book the group is reading and discussing is “Kindness is Contagious” by Nicole J. Phillips. The group will study this for October and into November.
SPUMC Annual Women’s Retreat
Due to Covid-19 we will not be hosting our annual Women’s Retreat. We hope to be able to offer this again next year.
Each year, the women from our congregation journey to Pine Lake United Methodist Camp for a wonderful weekend of rest, revitalization and spiritual growth. Need to slow down, savor a warm beverage while chatting with friends, and enjoy time with God?
