Guest Policy Minimize

Visitors are welcome at LOGOS!  After visiting twice, parents will need to formally register their child for LOGOS and set up a parent meeting with Deb.  The cost of dinner for all adults and non-registered children visiting during dinner time is $5 per meal, with $2 for children in the nursery.  Please call Deb by Tuesday at noon if you will be bringing a guest so that we can plan accordingly and have a place set.

Inclement Weather Minimize

If Sun Prairie Schools are cancelled, we will cancel LOGOS.  In case of bad weather predicted for late afternoon or evening, we will watch weather reports and cancel, if necessary.  If LOGOS is canceled, an email will be sent out by 1 p.m. on Wednesday.  The cancellation will also be listed on the church answering machine.  If you would like to receive a text message, please let Deb know early in the year.  If LOGOS is not canceled and you are coming from communities other than Sun Prairie, always do what you are comfortable with.  The safety of you and your children is our main concern.

If you are uncomfortable with driving conditions and are not able to attend, please call the LOGOS office at 837-5554, ext. 107 to report the absence.

If you would like to receive a text message if LOGOS is cancelled, let Deb know at rdmulhern@charter.net

The LOGOS Program at Sun Prairie United Methodist Church

Puppets of Praise are part of Worship Skills in LOGOS.

LOGOS is a Wednesday evening youth ministry of Christian nurture for children and youth. It is an international program offered in churches around the world. The LOGOS program at the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church is a fun-filled program where children meet with others for fellowship and learn about the Christian faith. Dozens of volunteer and professional staff adult leaders from our church gather each week to play, teach, nurture, and care for the children who come to LOGOS. LOGOS celebrates nurturing relationships through the model of Jesus Christ.

LOGOS is about building relationships...nurturing and equiping God's children.  Sociological factors influence and motivate people more than theology.  Therefore, youth and children mus be given sufficient opportunity to center their friendships in church-based relationships.  LOGOS provides an opportunity to explore one's identity in a Christian environment.  Pastors, other church staff, and congregational leaders can become friends as well as mentors and teachers.

Who can be involved with LOGOS?

Anyone! Children and youth in grades 1-12 as well as adults can participate in the LOGOS program on Wednesday evenings. You do not need to be a member of our church to be a part of LOGOS! There are many positions available for adults who would like to be involved in this rewarding ministry .

Please call or email Deb Mulhern, LOGOS Director at SPUMC, at 837-5554, ext. 107 to learn how you can become a part of LOGOS.

What another great night of LOGOS! I can't believe our LOGOS year is winding down and there are only 3 Wednesdays left!  Just a reminder that we do not have LOGOS next week, March 3rd. There are so many natural breaks first semester and none second semester so we always try to schedule one in the middle just to give everyone a break to enjoy a night at home with family.

What a great meal tonight - chicken cordon blue, rice pilaf, tossed salad and mini dessert cream puffs. Thanks, Kitchen Crew, for another great meal!!

I still have 2 beach towels left -one is a "power ranger" towel and the other says "Florida" and has dolphins on it. If these are yours, please let me know.

Our LOGOS High School youth and confirmands are getting ready to do the "30 Hour Famine" on March 19th & 20th. They are gearing up to raise money to help fight world hunger by going without food and learning about world hunger for 30 hours. I am proud of them for wanting to do missions more than just once a year on the summer mission trip. They really wanted to continue to make a difference!  Please watch for the youth in worship and support them by donating just a dollar to help feed and care for a child a day. And look for the paper chains in worship, to show just how many people die a DAY due to hunger and poverty. You can make a difference by donating!!

Remember, no LOGOS next Wednesday, March 3rd. We'll see you on the 10th! Have a relaxing night next Wednesday and enjoy the evening at home!

"LOGOS"

In our Jewish and Christian heritage there is no word quite like "LOGOS." The term has been used to describe "WORD"…the way God has been shown to us specifically as JESUS CHRIST. It also means "only one of its kind." We are each made individually in the image of God!

The Four Parts of LOGOS

Each week the youth participate in four parts of the LOGOS program. Below is a brief description of each:

Bible Study

This part of the program helps students learn about Christ's love through discussion, regular work assignments, and outside relationships with others. The Bible is studied with the help of competent, dedicated teachers who seek to spiritually challenge all participants.

Worship Skills

Worship is central to the Christian faith. Teaching children about the love of Christ is incomplete without providing opportunities to participate in worship. LOGOS members will participate in worship periodically.

Recreation

One of the key elements of LOGOS is FUN!! Recreation time is an opportunity to let off steam in a safe environment, free from name calling, cheating, or hurtful words to one another. A variety of non-competitive games and activities are selected so everyone can have a good experience.

Family Time

Dinner! Each week the children share in a family-style meal. It is an opportunity for the youth to share important events in their lives with their adult table parents. A nutritious meal is planned each week by our wonderful kitchen staff.
